The Malabar Mission Society is a Christian mission organization and a registered, not-for-profit Canadian Lutheran charity. It is a 100% volunteer organization that traces its story back to the work of faith, hope, and service to God.

The MMS is driven by a passion to serve God by caring for people in need, with a focus on the Malabar region of Southwest India (Kerala state). Its primary mission is to assist the Malabar Mission Circle of the India Evangelical Lutheran Church in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and providing practical assistance.

Outreach to Muslims: The Society has a dedicated focus on evangelism among Muslims in the region.

“Gospel for Muslim Ministry”: The MMS supports a specific “Gospel for Muslim ministry” and has historically set up mission stations (like Wandoor, Malappuram, and Calicut) for this work.

Foundational Principle: The founder, Rev. Dr. Roland E. Miller, is noted for his focus on this mission, writing books like Muslim Friends: Their Faith and Feeling, which emphasizes the principle of deep friendship as the means for linking Muslims and the Gospel.

Their work has been instrumental in reaching out to both Hindus and Muslims, with reports indicating conversions and baptisms from both groups in areas they support, emphasizing that their approach is based on friendship, care, and compassion.

They support local Pastors, Evangelists, teachers, leaders, healers, and Gospel Workers in Malabar through financial and prayer support, channeling almost all donations directly to workers and approved programs.

Affiliation: The MMS is a Listed Service Organization of Lutheran Church-Canada.

Founding: The Society was formed in 1988 by Rev. Dr. Roland E. Miller and his wife, Mary Helen.
